**Lycée Privé Emile Metz Connects with Romania in Inspiring Erasmus+ Exchange**

Between the 8th and 15th of May 2026, we organized a successful Erasmus+ student exchange in Constanța, Romania, in partnership with the prestigious Ovidius High School. 🇷🇴🤝🇱🇺

The connection between the two institutions was made possible through a particularly meaningful link: a former Ovidius pupil, now a teacher at LPEM, bridged the two schools and brought this collaborative project to life. 🔗✨

**A Large-Scale Project**

Nearly 50 people took part in this enriching initiative, including 19 LPEM students from the 2TPIF from Dommeldange **and 2TPIFI from Differdange**, 20 Ovidius students, and several teachers from both schools. 👥🌍

**Bucharest: A Weekend of Discovery and Team Building**

The LPEM delegation kicked off their journey with a weekend in Bucharest, where students had the opportunity to bond and explore the Romanian capital. A highlight of the stay was a visit to the famous Therme Bucharest — a remarkable wellness and leisure complex that proved to be an unforgettable team-building experience. 🏙️💧

**Innovation at the Heart of the Exchange**

After a road trip by bus from Bucharest to Constanța, from Monday to Thursday, students gathered at Ovidius High School for the core of the project: assembling and programming an ESP32-based robot. Students were divided into 10 mixed groups of four — two from Ovidius and two from LPEM, one from each campus — fostering collaboration, communication, and creativity across cultures and languages. 🤖⚙️🧠

The week culminated in an exciting robotics competition held on Thursday afternoon in the grand aula of Ovidius High School. The first prize was generously sponsored by [UpperStory.com](upperstory.com/) and consisted of four Spintronics kits — one for each member of the winning team, — an innovative physics learning tool that perfectly complemented the spirit of the project. The second prize was earbuds, and the third prize was a small speaker.🏆🔬

**Culture and Heritage**

Beyond the classroom, students had the opportunity to discover the rich cultural heritage of Constanța. Visits to the Naval Academy of Constanța and the iconic Cazino — a stunning architectural monument overlooking the Black Sea — rounded off a truly memorable week. ⚓🌊🏛️

**A Week to Remember**

This Erasmus+ exchange stands as a shining example of what European cooperation in education can achieve: bringing together young people from different backgrounds, cultures and countries to learn, create and grow together. 🌍✨

D’Presentatioun war net nëmmen e stolze Moment fir d’Schüler, mee och eng Geleeënheet, fir ze weisen, wéi vill Kompetenzen a Praxiswëssen an enger technescher Ausbildung vermëttelt ginn. Mat dësem Projet hunn d’Schüler gewisen, dass si prett sinn, fir déi technesch Erausfuerderunge vun der Zukunft unzegoen – mat Kreativitéit, Präzisioun an engem staarken Teamgeescht. 🚀🏭🤝

After a year full of commitment, hard work and collaboration, the students of class 1TPMG presented their project. This year, the focus was on an exceptional challenge:

the development and manufacturing of an automatic punching machine. 🤖🔩⚡

This machine was specifically designed to automatically punch 5 holes at a defined distance. Once the process is completed, the machine stops automatically — a task that, in practice, requires high precision and good coordination between mechanics and control systems. From the very first sketches, through the calculations and construction, to the assembly and test run — the students planned and carried out every stage of the project themselves. Throughout the process, they were guided by their teachers, who provided technical advice and practical support. 🧠📐🔧👨‍🏫

The presentation was not only a proud moment for the students, but also an opportunity to demonstrate how many skills and how much practical knowledge are conveyed through technical education. With this project, the students showed that they are ready to take on the technical challenges of the future — with creativity, precision and a strong team spirit. 🚀🏭🤝✨

Final bridge load tests 🌉⚙️

Time to see if the bridges could handle the pressure. Each team tested their structure by adding more and more weight while checking stability and resistance. The LED system turned on once the bridge reached the 30 mm deflection point during the test. 💡⚖️

LPEM MINT Week 🔬⚙️
“Bridge Building: Light, Stable, Intelligent” 🌉
In our vocational training classes, students from DP1 and 4ième classes were mixed into interdisciplinary teams to take on a real engineering challenge. 👥🛠️

Their mission: build the lightest possible bridge capable of passing the final load test under realistic technical conditions. ⚖️

First, the project and technical requirements were introduced in detail. Students received their materials, discovered the rules of the challenge and were assigned to different workshops. 📋🔧

From there, they researched bridge types, planned their concepts, created sketches and technical drawings, documented their progress and built their bridges step by step — working like real engineering teams throughout the entire process. ⚙️🧠

The challenge combined technical thinking, creativity, teamwork and problem-solving. Students had to carefully balance weight, stability and material efficiency while integrating a LED system that would light up once the bridge reached a 30 mm deflection during testing. 💡🏗️

A workshop on hydraulics and structural deflection also gave students a deeper understanding of real-world forces and engineering principles. 📏🔬

The week ended with final presentations and load tests, where each bridge was evaluated on functionality, construction quality, weight, documentation and teamwork, turning theory into something tangible and real. 🚀📚

In Dommeldange, our students explored science, technology, engineering and mathematics through hands-on MINT (STEM) activities across different grades. 🔬⚙️

As a school, we actively promote an interdisciplinary approach between mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology, with curiosity, experimentation, and innovation at the heart of our MINT philosophy — encouraging students to ask the right questions and develop creative solutions.

This approach is particularly put into practice in various ways across different learning experiences, especially during MINT Week, where different classes engage in project-based activities that bring these ideas to life.

In 7th grade, the focus was water: students built their own water filters, studied the anomaly of water, and visited the Beggen wastewater treatment plant to connect theory with real-life processes. 💧

In 6th grade, the theme was energy: from static electricity and electroscopes to energy in fuels and the steam engine, students discovered how energy is created, stored and transformed. ⚡

In 5th grade, students worked on speed using LEGO Spike robots, testing how different factors influence motion and learning to calculate and interpret both average and instantaneous speed. 🤖📊

Across all activities, students had the opportunity to discover science in a practical, interactive way — connecting physics, mathematics, technology and real-world applications. 🚀

Together with our teachers, Tim & Bert, students are working directly on the construction of the Nando Groppo Trail piece by piece. ⚙️

This project is years of planning, collaboration, precision and passion for aviation turned into something real. ⏱️
