Do Not Open: Book presentation by the author Sami Bouraoui

Our former student and German scholar, Sami Bouraoui, gave the 3GIG class a detailed and interesting presentation of his English short story Do Not Open. Among other things, the short story raises the question of whether there is free will, i.e. the ability to make decisions at one’s own discretion for understandable reasons and without external constraints. Or are individuals subject to processes from which they cannot escape ? With its philosophical and scientific thought processes, the class discussion inspired the students to reflect on issues such as hedonism, inner happiness and the invisible structures of social influence that affect people’s lives.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Sami Bouraoui for sparking the interest of the 3GIG students, giving them an insight into writing a short story and giving them a different perspective on aspects of everyday life. The short story Do Not Open is definitely worth reading.
